Leora Schachter

leora_bio_photo_4Leora Schachter loves the challenge of getting something for almost nothing in her hometown of NYC, and with her renewed frugality (thank you, recession), it also involves environmental – as well as monetary – concerns. The economic crisis first hit Leora when her office job became a casualty of the 2008 layoffs. After a brief stint of severance-induced leisure and an inspirational trip to Paris, she began working as a Business Development Consultant. She’s currently consulting for Etsy, an online portal for handmade goods. Before the recession, Leora was VP of Strategy and Development at IAC Advertising Solutions where she led the advertising product management and development for client sites, such as Evite, Citysearch, Ticketmaster, and Match. Prior to IAC, she was General Manager at Waterfront Media, an online health publisher, and she has also managed partner marketing programs and Web site launches for American Express, Audible, and others. Leora is a true New Yorker who claims to enjoy culinary arts, but what she really means is that she loves to eat. A few of her fave frugal NYC eateries are Eisenberg’s, Num Pang, and La Caridad.
